ProMediaGear Sputnik Ball Head

Ball Head is an essential item in any Professional Photographers Gear Bag.

ProMediaGear #BH1 ball head is not your average ball head.  Made to Last, it's CNC precision crafted in the USA, from best alloys and stainless steel, it has all the features you need in a professional ball head.

The knob dominates and shapes the entire ball head, it's large and easy to feel and find from any angle.  Designed for fast action adjustments, it allows for 90-degree tilting in any opposite direction, at any time in any direction, unlike typical ball heads that allow 90 degree tilts only in a predefined slot.

This Ball Head is suitable for Wide Angle to Super Telephoto lenses, Outdoor and Wildlife Photography, and can be used with any camera.  Whether you are a Nikon, Canon or Sony shooter, it will improve the quality of your pictures and better your skills in the easiest way possible.

The clamp is laser engraved with millimeter scale for precise positioning of the camera.

Order with Confidence: We are certain that you will love our Ball Head as much as we do but if for any reason you are not completely satisfied, we will give you a full refund – no questions asked! And if something goes wrong, we offer you a 5-year warranty so you will have nothing to worry about!

The PMG Ball Head is a WINNER
I have ball heads from RRS, Induro, and Acratech. This head is the one that I grab for when I need one. It is user friendly with the large control knob, and when locked down it stays where you put it. I am thrilled with my purchase!

Excellent construction, with a very unique and highly functional design. It seemed heavy at first to me, until I compared it to my Giottos ball head. They are very close in weight, and I don't have to worry about the platform unscrewing. I've used this in both studio and photo booth style shooting sessions. The head is a very finely precision-made instrument. Movement is quite fluid for panning, elevation and tilt. I would love to see a smaller version for a lighter tripod. Great job with this piece.

Awesome Ball Head
I've been using Manfrotto Ball heads for almost 10 years. I saw a few videos and promotional stuff on PMG equipment and was very impressed with the research and workmanship that has gone into the design of heir accessories. I found the PMG Ball Head far superior to anything I have used or tried. The craftsmanship is exceptional, the look is super cool, and the movement and feel of this ball head exudes quality. I loved the manoeuvrability with any set-up. Highly recommend this product loking for a solid, well built ball head!

the PMG Ball head is the best built ball head period! I use it with the Arca Swiss mounting plate for my Nikon D4 connected to the flash bracket is use for my Guillotine Flash mount. The movements are fluid and the locking mechanism is solid. I also use it with my Tomahawk Gimble Head to support my Nikon 400mm 2.8 FL VR lens. Wow, what a platform to have when photographing wildlife and live music! Thank you PMG for another product that is the standard to which all other comparative products from other manufacturers should be measured against!

Owning a KIRK BH-3 for quite a while, I've noticed that it can have a bit "too much play" when locking things down for critical table-top work. Since the PMG-BH1 was released, was ALWAYS intrigued. Cyber Monday deal clinched the price for me. Have to say... ZERO REGRET in buying. Intuitive design and seems to LOCK UP steady even with my 80-200mm Canon EF-L 2.8 It's a great, heavy-duty ballhead with an incredibly sturdy design. The PMG BH1 now resides on my Salon Stand and the KIRK BH-3 is on my Studex Tripod for travel/ location work. Even NICER is that the BH1 ships with the very reliable PMG Arca-style clamp (includes a bubble-level built in the clamp) and plenty of platform to grip the PMG plate I have on my 80-200 lens. Another level-bubble is built into the base. It's a precise instrument, the PMG BH1 and for sure worth the investment. USA (and locally, for me) made. I would highly recommend, especially at the STILL introductory cost before the pricing does go up. At the intro pricing, it is priced about the same as a new KIRK BH-3. (using the BH-3 as a comparison for not only price but also load capacity) If you are in the market for a PRO level ball-head, I'd for sure give this a HIGH recommendation. Forgo the temptation of buying one of the Chinese Marketed one, spend a bit more on some AMERICAN MADE quality that should last you a lifetime.

I think, I'm in Love. No really, this is one sweet ball head. At first I thought, oh no, no separate tension control, but as of now, I have not missed this feature, as all the movements are very smooth and when you lock the head, it stays put, nothing moves. The big adjustment knob makes this fun and easy - very well designed and thought out! Build quality is up the usual Pro Media Gear standard, in a word: superb. Having worked with this little head for a while, I couldn't be happier, than you Pro Media Gear.

This Ball Head is a beautiful piece of gear. I really like the fact that there are only two nobs. Some have one for rotation and two for setting the tension and locking. This ball head locks tight even on heavy lenses. Highly recommend it.

First Class!
This ball head is a piece of art! You can feel the quality in it's build and ultra smooth panning movement. This head has obviously had great attention to detail during its design and great care has been taken in choosing the materials used and it's final construction as it holds your gear rock solid. Also, I can't leave this head alone, even when I'm not using it I often pop into the studio to give it a spin! I know, sad but true!! To summarise, not only does it do it's job perfectly but it is a pleasure to own. It is a first class product and I recommend it to any photographer etc who appreciates quality.

All others are rendered obsolete. I have received and used my BH1 PMG Ball Head briefly and echo my previous comments on PMG products, they are without compare in both form and function and worth every penny spent. If you are on the fence as to whether to spend a little extra for their products then rest assured that EVERYTHING that they offer is absolutely top shelf.Words alone cannot describe the craftsmanship and thought that goes into their line, purchase just one product and you will be back for more.

BH -1
I usally do not do any reviews. However, I wanted to express my views; Upon owning the BH-1. I am very impressed by the overall build quality and ease of use. i have owned many ball heads. From different manufacturer. I must add huge list. Induro BH 55, Novoflex classic Ball 5 ii. Magic Ball large size. Gitzo Model GHQD series 3. Just to list a few, amony others. All waste of money and time. I really enjoy using the BH-1 for me the BH1 has full rotation other ball heads do not offer. Up down side to side tilt. With the other ball heads listed above in certain movements i had limitations. Or the lever's were touching or hitting the pan lever or other knobs while rotating in different directions. The BH1 controls are out of the way. Also the people that work for Pro Media Gear are superior people. Finally a product Made in the USA with Pride...Buy this product you will love it. I bought 3 so far. I have two Gitzo Gt 5543 tripod bean bag yes BH1 on it and yes mono pod Bh1 head on it as well.... I will post pictures soon...

Ball head
I just completed my review for the PMG tripod I purchased and I wanted to leave a few quick words about their ball head I also bought. Btw, the 42mm tripod is a total winner. I love that thing. Anyway, the ball head is also a total winner. Just like the tripod, I cannot imagine ever needing to buy another ball head. 100% built like a tank. It absolutely meets my needs and expectations and is heads and shoulders better than what I’ve used in the past. These two products do exactly what I need them to do and aesthetically look good doing it, which is a bonus. I can not recommend either of these any higher. If you can afford either of these or both, just do it because you will not be disappointed.

This ball head is WORLD CLASS! I never used an Area type clamp before. It is so user friendly and quick on/off! Also, this head has no protruding levers to get in the way and all mechanics are beautifully smooth and fluid! Also, it's really beautiful to look at! Like a piece of art! Have used the ball head now for two months on multiple occasions. Build quality, materials, ease of use and smoothness, first rate. Better than anything I've ever used and will probably be the last one I ever purchase. LOVE the two big knobs, but the only thing keeping me from giving this five stars is the seemingly out of place, not nearly as nice or easy to use as the other two; bracket clamp knob. More difficult to tighten (especially in cold weather) and grip as the other two. Please, just replicate the swivel knob! Absolutely no regrets in purchasing.

Mr
I was looking for this head for two years and from watching the videos and what people sayings at Internet I had some doubts about the stiffness of movement as doesn't have a tension mechanism and if the head needs a lot of turning of the knobs to lock plus as I'm living Down Under the fact that I couldn't actually see and touch it!... Well, eventually, recently I find from your list of resellers that you have one in Queensland (where I'm living)!!! When I emailed Marissa to ask if I can see the head she offered to meet and see for myself about my doubts... Long story short, it is a marvel of engineering, solid as a rock and really flexible! I did go ONLY to SEE it and of course I BOUGHT it! ??

I originally bought this ball head a year ago for a Northern Lights trip in northern Alaska. I worked in sub zero temperatures and this performed perfectly. The design with the larger locking wheel is perfect for fast movement even with heavy gloved hands. Once set it is rock solid just like its construction. I was so happy with its performance that I just bought a second one. Now I have a great back up and another perfect head for a 2 camera set up. Thanks PMG and that covid touch tool is outstanding too!

I don't like ball heads, but...
I really like this one. I have used ball heads by several other high end manufacturers but usually prefer my Manfrotto 405 geared head or Nest Carbon fiber gimbal, but I have to state I really like the ease of use and precision of the BH1. Having one large knob to both position and tighten makes use easy. The fit, finish and materials are top notch, and the movements precise. Easily handles a gripped D 850 and 200-500 zoom. I also like functional, novel designs and this definitely qualifies under both criteria. An added bonus it is the red marches the color I had ordered on my ProMediaGear TR344L tripod. Style counts too. I would definitely recommend the BH1 and would buy it again without reservation

Great Ball Head
This ball head is awesome. I went back and forth between some different brands and decided to go with the BH1. Some reviews I watched advised that the BH1 was stiffer than other brands out of the box. Seeing how I have not tried the others, it seems perfectly fine to me. Actually if it is stiffer, it aids in adjusting for me. Everyone has their preference, but the BH1 it great. The one knob to adjust the ball in fantastic and easy to use. I typically have been using it with the knob on the left to use with my left hand while adjusting the camera with my right. Mainly when shooting landscape. I find it easiest for me to switch it to the right side if I want to to drop it over for portrait. Mainly easier to use with the controls on my camera. I have not been out as much as normal shooting but when I have, this ball head and the TR344 tripod are great to have. highly recommend it.
