L-Bracket Plate Arca-Swiss Type for Canon 1Dx Mark I and Mark II
PLC1Dx2X L-Bracket from ProMediagear L-Bracket has been designed and optimized specifically for Canon 1DX Mark II and Original 1Dx (the bodies are identical).
L-Brackets or L-Plates allow for fast changes between portrait and landscape orientations, without the need of tripod head readjustment and re-composition. You simply release the bracket from your tripod head, flip it 90 degrees mounting it back into the tripod head. Compatible with Arca-Swiss type standards from all major manufacturers.
Benefits or mounting on vertical side facilitates a more stable platform than tilting 90 degrees as the camera mounts directly over center of tripod apex.
The L-Bracket has been machined from solid Aluminum T6061 block and black anodized for scratch resistant finish. The main feature of this L-Bracket is its two piece design; the vertical piece of the L-Bracket can be extended or removed, this allows for the use of just the base plate if desired. Custom Fitting the L-Bracket to Canon 1Dx body ensures that the L-plate rests directly on the camera eliminating any play or twisting.
Two piece design; Extendable Vertical Plate allows for easy tethering
Rubber Pads on Bottom Plate Eliminate Twisting and protect the camera
Easy Access to Cable Ports
Compatible with A10 snag protector
1/4"-20 Threads on Vertical And bottom side for accessories (cold shoes, holsters, straps)
Two safety stops for each vertical and horizontal surface
Compatible with Arca-Swiss style tripods, mono-pods etc.
Slide out mechanism with hardened steel rods allow extending of the vertical plate for ease of use with cables or finding center point of the image

The L-Bracket performs ist purpose well. All connections are easily accesible. To change the battery is no problem. I use my Wifi Tool WFT-E88 very often and this is now with my Bracket well protected.

Nice and flexible
I have used a Kirk bracket, which I like very much, but it does not offer the flexibility of the PMG bracket. The ability to attach the flash boomerang and the built in socket for the SS2 quick release wins the day. I have not had to extend the L side of the bracket, but it's nice to know I could if needed. My only request is that they would put an extra SS2 socket on the lower side of the bracket. I woulds also recommend they move the existing socket to the back corner away from the shutter. If you use a big SS2 quick release, it sits right where your hand wants to be during shooting. This of course can be quickly released, but if it was in the back corner, or side of the bracket it would not need to. The single strut supporting the side of the bracket is very strong so I did not notice any difference from it over one with two struts around the batter release area. For future, I also wouldn't mind seeing them add some of the features found on the R L bracket, such as ability to mount an accessory on that side and a cold shoe mount on top of the L.

Does the side bracket have any threads to mount a manfrotto plate for shooting vertical video?
Yes there are threads on vertical part, but it's probably better to purchase a plate like our PM501 plate which has Arca Built into the Manfrotto 501 plate. Please search for it at promediagear.com
