L-Bracket for Canon EOR R5 and R6 Camera body

L-Brackets or L-Plates allow for fast changes between portrait and landscape orientations, without the need of tripod head readjustment and re-composition. You simply release the bracket from your tripod head, flip it 90 degrees mounting it back into the tripod head. Compatible with Arca-Swiss type standards from all major manufacturers.

Benefits or mounting on vertical side facilitate a more stable platform than using ball head alone to tilt 90 degrees, as the camera mounts directly over center of tripod apex.

This L-Bracket has been machined from solid Aluminum T6061 block and black anodized for scratch resistant finish. The main feature of this L-Bracket is its two piece design; the vertical piece of the L-Bracket can be extended or removed, this allows for the use of just the base plate if desired. Furthermore, it's offset to allow for easy camera cable connections, and full articulation of LCD screen is permitted. Custom fitting to the EOS R5 and R6 camera body ensures that the L-plate mounts securely eliminating any play or twisting.

The BEST L-bracket design for the R5

Thanks to the forward thinking of the design team at PMG, they have made the absolute best L-bracket for the R5. Their design moved the vertical component forward, allowing for 100% full swivel & rotation of the LCD screen with no chance of damaging the screen as in competitor's designs. A far superior L-bracket. Love using it knowing I have full use & visibility of my LCD screen. Thank you for your intelligent design!

Great L Bracket

I ordered this bracket because it is the only one that allows me to use all ports and the screen in any position. It is perfect for the R5 plus I also got an arca handle to attach to the side plate allowing to have a more steady grip during video capture. I got the QD version which also allows me to use a variety of mounting and strap attachment options for my camera.

Bracket has plenty of room for flip screen rotation. Stiff and firm mounting of camera and I do like the cold shoe that was a nice addition to this bracket.

This L-bracket is built for buffalo! Serves the main purpose on my R5 perfectly and love using it also as a firm grip. An added bonus for me is the cold shoe mount. I'm left-eye-dominant and almost always use the EVF. Problem is, items mounted to the R5 cold shoe can project back into my forehead. The off-set cold shoe on the L-bracket allows me to mount a Rode VideoMic Pro+ without interference. Further, for nighttime wildlife photos using a small tactical flashlight, I can mount the light on the L-bracket cold shoe with a SmallRig shotgun mic clamp -- again, no interference with my big head! Thanks for a well-conceived, ruggedly built product.

Perfect (for R6)

I read many reviews and did quite a bit of searching for the best bracket. This works perfectly for my R6, with room for the screen to rotate. Very sturdy and safe. Easily fits into the tripod I already had, quickly switching from horizontal to vertical. The allen wrench is included and it does take a minute to put the bracket on and off the camera. I am so glad to have this because it was impossible to set up the camera in a vertical orientation without it, and now it is so simple

Perfect for macro

No other plate comes close. Once you unscrew the two tiny screws on each side of the L plate, this bracket fits perfectly into any arca swiss tripod. The offset portrait plate allows full articulation of the r5's screen during those most awkward positions macrophotography requires and acts nicely as a second grip. The offset bracket doesn't get in the way of the cable release plug. The hotshoe is a neat addition for mounting a mini ball head and external flash for macro. I highly recommend this bracket.

I previously had purchased the EOS R L-bracket and the SS2 so there was no surprise that the L-bracket for the EOS-R5 performed equally to my satisfaction. The EOS R series have a flip screen that flips out so you can use the camera in landscape or portrait mode and still have the screen in perfect view even if you go very low and the PMG L-bracket is absolutely perfect because it does not hinder the screen in any way. It might be a bit bulky compared to other L-brackets and does not fit as snugly into your camera bag but the benefits outweigh that by far and then you gain an extra handle on your camera which has proven useful. I do highly recommend PMG L-bracket and SS2 combo

Well-considered, well engineered

I like this thing. I generally default to RRS, but this hardware is obviously superior, and details like the cold shoe and two-piece design give options I hope one day to appreciate.

L-bracket

This bracket does not get in the way of cords or the front mounted cable release. It is easy to exchange lenses. It is very well thought out. Switching from horizontal to vertical, especially on the ProMedia Gear ball head is effortless. It keeps the camera and lens well balanced on the ProMedia Gear tripod which is itself absolutely stable, a requirement for lengthy shots.

Purchased online in the UK. Delivered quickly with no problem s at all. The L bracket is the only one I have seen that allows the full articulation of the R5 screen. Excellent product, extremely well made.

quality build, ability to slide out vertical component is great, magnetized allen key compartment is nice touch. two very minor complaints... there is a lot of branding in my eye line for my taste. Secondly, I wish the sensor center line marking was brighter. In a dark studio, I need to get out the flashlight in those times it's crucial for me to line up those lines.

This review is for the PLCR56 L Bracket used with the Canon R6. I made the mistake of purchasing a cheapo L-Bracket that was less than $50, but that bracket had some fatal flaws. First, I couldn't fully articulate the screen, negating a key feature of the R6. Second, I use a silicone case on the R6, and the base pin that prevents the camera from rotating on the tripod screw was not long enough, causing the camera to... rotate, which means the vertical angle did not work, which means the L-bracket was worthless. The PMG L-bracket fixes these two serious flaws from the cheapo L-brackets, so to me it's worth every penny. It has a front-offset vertical mount, allowing the screen to fully articulate. You can also extend the horizontal mount, allowing the left hand to go between the camera body and L-Bracket so it can cradle the lens. The horizontal mount also has a long enough pin to prevent rotation on the tripod hole even with my silicone case. Due to the above points, and the top-notch quality metal construction and build quality, I feel this is the best L-Bracket for the R6 (and R5).

Best Design

I'm pleased with this bracket. It provided the L features of most L-brackets, but the feature I most appreciate has to do with the location of the vertical arm. It is offset towards the front of the camera that provides a sturdy handle for carrying the camera. Plus, the forward location does not interfere with turning the LCD.. Plus the forward location does not interfere with turning the LCD display.

Perfect L bracket for Canon R5 and R6

Perfect L bracket for the R6 and R5. I own both. It allows the swing out screen to be completely out of the way and does not interfere with the bracket. Very pleased!

Q: Is your L-bracket for the Canon R5 a modular bracket and does the base plate cover the whole base of the camera including the battery compartment?

A: Yes, it is modular and is 2 piece design L-bracket. The base plate doesn't cover the entire base of the camera, you can have access to battery without restrictions.

Q: Does the L portion interfere with access to any controls on lenses, e.g., turning the stabilizer on or off? Similarly, does it interfere with tightening or loosening the tripod collar on lenses with collars?

A: The L-Portion does cover the area near the lens, but still allows you to control the lens options, with some lenses, you may need to extend the bracket a bit, to allow more access. Most users prefer to use this type of bracket as it allows for un-obstructed view of the LCD screen. Screw for tripod collar is usually to the bottom and away, so that should be ok .

Q: Will there be two L-brackets, one with and one without the battery grip? Or, will there be just one L-bracket that extends (for battery grip) or retracts (without battery grip)?

A: Great question! We have 2 different L-brackets for the grip and non-grip Canon R5/R6. We use the PBCR56 (for non-grip R5) and the PBCBGE22R5 (for the R5 w/battery grip) bottom plates which doesn’t cover the battery compartment.

Q: can i use a peak design strap system with this bracket? are there holes to attach the strap?

A: Yes, it should work with you peak design strap. It has holes for straps and other accessories. But if you’re using a strap with a QD or SS2 plug, you can choose between the PLCR56 w/ QD or PLCR56 w/ SS2 port system plates. Otherwise, you can choose any of the 2 port systems.

Q: I like this for my real estate business but I would like to remove the l portion for all other work is it possible to easily remove the L portion of the bracket?

A: Yes, the vertical part can easily be easily and quickly removed anytime, you don't even have to take off the bracket from the camera. Simply take out the screws in bottom plate holding onto the vertical parts rods, and it can slide out. Reverse process to put it back together.

A: Yes, you can attach the boomerang flash bracket to the base plate of your L-bracket. PLCR56 base plate will work with our BBX flash bracket.

A: The PLCR56 is designed to fit the non-grip Canon R5. If you needed the gripped version L-bracket for the R5, we have the PLCBGR10 L-bracket. It is designed to fit Canon R5 and R6 with BG-R10 Battery Grip
