Since this is a universal L-Bracket if the battery on the Grip is accessed from the L-bracket side it will block the battery. In that case Custom Fitted bracket is recommended. Please click on PRODUCTS for category above.
L-Brackets or L-Plates allow for fast changes between portrait and landscape orientations, without the need of tripod head readjustment and re-composition. You simply release the bracket from your tripod head, flip it 90 degrees mounting it back into the tripod head. Compatible with Arca-Swiss type standards from all major manufacturers.
Benefits or mounting on vertical side facilitates a more stable platform than tilting 90 degrees as the camera mounts directly over center of tripod apex.
The L-Bracket has been machined from solid Aluminum T6061 block and black anodized for scratch resistant finish. The main feature of this L-Bracket is its two piece design; the vertical piece of the L-Bracket can be extended or removed, this allows for the use of just the base plate if desired. Furthermore, by using only a hard rubber pads on the bottom camera portion of the L-bracket, we ensure that the L-plate rests directly on the camera eliminating any play or twisting.
Features:
Two piece design; Extendable Vertical Plate allows for easy tethering
Rubber Pads on Bottom Plate Eliminate Twisting and protect the camera
Easy Access to Cable Ports
1/4"-20 Threads on Vertical And bottom side for accessories (cold shoes, holsters, straps)
Compatible with A10 Snag protector
Two safety stops for each vertical and horizontal surface

Universal L bracket
I ordered the universal L bracket for my Olympus E-5 with battery grip and it fits quite nicely. It has become a permanent part of that body. Flipping from horizontal to vertical is a breeze and it locks tightly into the Arca-Swiss tripod head I have. So far so good.

Strong L-bracket, very versatile. Very useful to switch from landscape to portrait frame. The magnetic allen wrench holder and the removable strap loop are a fantastic idea! Great and useful product
I purchased this universal L-Bracket for my Canon 7D with battery grip because of my previous experience with ProMediaGear products... I have a flash bracket made by them. The L-Bracket is light weight and well made, it does exactly what it is designed to do.

Mr
The L bracket is extremely well made, sturdy and does exactly as expected. The arca clamp is secure. A brilliant item. I must commend Tom, his team and the USPS who got the bracket into England within 3 days, it then took a further 8 days to go through uk custums and the uk postal service before it was delivered. That aside I am very pleased with the product and will certainly recommend to other photographers.

I also got one for the D800 which I reviewed. This is for my Nikon D3s. I was surprised there wasn't a specific model for such a pro camera that has been around for a while so I got the generic L plate. It is actually easier to use than the specific D800 one even if it has to be removed more often. One allen screw and it's off. I like the fact that it can be adjusted and fit any other camera I have. Plus it was less expensive. My camera strap is minor in the way, but not bad. Unrelated, but I haven't found a GOOD SECURE EASY and SMALL quick release to remove the camera strap at the camera ring that doesn't scratch up the camera or get in the way. I use a series of split rings (tiny key rings), but am wary of the security. Maybe PMG will come up with an idea. 5 stars on this one. Plus the customer service is real human Americans on the phone.

I did not have many options for the Pentax K1 with a battery grip. I saw this Promediagear bracket and it had good reviews. I can see why. It high quality and well built. I've used it several times now and I couldn't be more pleased with it. I highly recomend it.

Mr.
The Bracket I purchased completed the “L” configuration I was interested in and built of very high Quality. I already have the RRS “L-Bracket” but but was not happy with their “Quick Disconnect” carrying strap that was available and extremely satisfied with the Pro-Media quick disconnect function, which is the main reason for relocating the RRS bracket to “the shelf”!!!

PLX4x L-Bracket on Fujifilm X-H1 with VPB vertical booster grip
The ProMediaGear Universal L bracket is very well made and is also beautiful to gaze upon. The main reason for this purchase is the ability to flip from a vertical composition to a horizontal composition at F-15 speed - and it does that very well. I have two minor issues with the bracket mounted on my Fujifilm X-H1 and VPB vertical booster grip combination. One issue was very short term, but the other issue is unfixable. The short term problem involved the vertical plate of the "L" bracket. The very top of the "L" bracket was hitting the camera strap eyelet before the "L" bracket was locked to the bottom to the grip (I'm guessing the X-H1 and VPB combination is not quite as tall as the Canon, Nikon or Sony equivalents). The easy fix for this issue was to use a Dremel tool and create a little trough on the camera side of the top part of the vertical "L". That little trough made room for the strap eyelet which in turn allowed the entire "L" bracket to fit perfectly on the X-H1 - VPB combination. The second, long term issue is having to remove the "L" bracket every time I need to change batteries with this camera/vertical grip combination. The "L" bracket need to be at least loosened and partially spun out of the way to allow access to the battery drawer - if not removed entirely.

Works like a charm
I bought a complete L-bracket several months ago and really like the way it works on my various Canon DSLRs and PowerShot G3X. I've also tried it on a couple of Sony cameras. This really is a universal bracket in my book, as long as you don't have a battery grip. However I use my DSLRs with and without battery grips, so I just added the 4x vertical piece (I'm glad PMG sells it separately!) and now have a totally universal L-Bracket that works with my 1D Mark 4 and various other Canon DSLRs with battery grips attached. I like the new rubber grip on the base plate: it grips better than the previous one. Still not quite as good as custom plates, but more than good enough for my usage. Very highly recommended, especially if you have several cameras and don't want to buy a bevy of brackets.

I purchased this on January 28, after reviewing and comparing with many other L-brackets. I am so glad I chose the PMG. It is finished beautifully, fits my camera (Canon EOS 80D) perfectly, and includes many excellent features. The only assembly i was required to do was move the camera mounting screw from the left to the right slot. At that point it fit my camera perfectly with the vertical of the L snug up against the left side of my camera. When I need to access the side ports, I can extend the vertical side out to provide more finger room. The necessary tools are provided for all adjustments with the main allen wrench magnetically held in the vertical side pocket. Safety stop screws are provided on both the base and vertical portions which is missing on all other brackets I investigated. With the Arca-Swiss compatibility I can quickly and easily switch my camera from landscape to portrait orientation with the cg of the camera remaining over the top of the tripod. That is important because tilting the tripod head leads to a much less stable camera position. So. Excellent fit and finish. A full range of rarely found features. Universal fit so it can be moved to just about any similar camera. And an excellent price which is far less than dedicated L-brackets. What more could you ask for?

A quite-versatile universal L-bracket. With the tall vertical, it just fits my Samsung NX-1 w/batterygrip. Could be a little-more-strongly built for as tall as it is, but then it'd be heavier. If you can't find a custom plate, this one probably will work just finely.

Q:
Need to decide on universal L-bracket for Olympus E-M1. I have the battery grip but do not use it 100% of the time. Does the 3in fit well without the grip and the 4in fit well with the grip? Can I buy an extra vertical piece (order bracket with 3in vertical piece and add extra 4in vertical piece?).
Asked by:
Darius
- 1/11/2015
A:
PLX4 works well with EM1, it can also be used without the grip, but might stick out too high to your liking. Both the PLX3 and 4 cover the battery compartment when used without the grip. So to change the battery you have to take off the bracket. Both differ only in vertical piece and yes you can buy vertical pieces separately.

I have a Pentax K3 with a battery grip. The tripod socket is offset approximately 1.5" to the right of center and approximately 3.375" from the battery door. What I would like to know is this: will this bracket belong enough, extended, to hold the camera securely in the vertical position?
Asked by:

- 6/2/2015
A:
Yes the L-Bracket extend quite far and it will hold the camera securely. There are two counter sunk screws in plate that hold steel rods of vertical plate.

A:
For Canon 6D without grip we recommend custom L-bracket plate for Canon 6d model # PLC6D. However if you need a universal L-Bracket L-Plate, then we'd recommend PLX3 as the 4inch version will be too long and vertical part will stick out past the body .

Hi there - I am considering purchasing this for my Sony A7s with battery grip. Yes the plates are fully compatible with Really Right Stuff Clamps. With the PLX4 Arca-Swiss type L-Brackets you can slide out the vertical piece for clearance of shutter or HDMI cables.

Q:
I needed to change my l-bracket (an RSS) on my D800E as I added battery grip to it. I am coming to the conclusion that your universal 4" bracket may be a viable solution without breaking my bank and without having to get a bracket for every camera. My first question is this bracket actually fits me preferably being able to access the ports (I sometime use hdmi for camera control)? Second question is the two lock system at both ends of the bottom of the plate. I recently found that my benro or induro plate for lens had similar lock and would not fit my on my tripod and monopod clamp. I removed one of them (really hard) and its ok now. Those tow 'nails' may pose a similar problem. Can they be remove without compromising the stability? My both plates (Photo Clam on tripod and Sirui L10 on monopod) have push button lock system for accidental release. I will appreciate your reply. If these things are ok, I will go ahead and order one. Thank you. Rajendra
Asked by:
Rajendra
- 12/23/2014
A:
PMG universal Arca-Swiss type L-bracket allows you to slide out the vertical side and access the camera side ports. However it's not a custom L-bracket, but it offers much more flexibility. The vertical plate locking system is on the bottom plate and it does not interfere with tripods clamps.

Asked by:
Chuck
- 9/16/2016
A:
The hardened steel rails are just over 2" long protruding from the vertical piece. When you insert them into the bracket plate at the most extended state you are looking at just under 1.5" of extension with the set screws installed. The unit can also be pressed in all the way showing no rod extenders and fit tight to your camera body.

Although the SL-1 is a small DSLR, our PBX3 Modular Base Plate is machined with 2 channels which offers a bit of attachment flexibility. I haven't tested but I believe the plate will fit well on the camera and not block the battery door. We offer a hassle free return policy if not satisfied.

Asked by:

A:
For Olympus E-M1 without grip we recommend the PLX3 (3-inch) as the PLX4 (4-inch) version will be too long and the vertical part will stick out past the body. The PLX4 would be a great Universal Bracket if you are using the optional battery grip. Both Universal L-Brackets attach with a 1/4-20 threaded adapter onto any camera body.

Q:
Hi, Which is better for the CAnon T6s Rebel camera? The 3 inch or 4 inch? Also, with either bracket attached to the camera, is there full access to battery compartment, cable release compartment and be able to move LCD screen? Thanks, Imager700
Asked by:
Imager700
- 12/11/2016
A:
The 3 or 4 in length is the vertical part of the L-bracket the bottom piece is the same in both. The 4 inch is recommended for the tall cameras like Canon 1Dx or Nikon D5, or cameras with optional Grip or battery pack. If you only have the Canon T6s then we recommend the 3 inch version. There maybe an issue with covering the access to the cable release as it's universal and each camera is different. But what is unique about our design is that you can slide out the vertical part and have access to the ports then. If you don't have the optional Grip then the battery door will be free to access as it's on the bottom of the camera.

Q:
I am looking for an "L" bracket that hopefully will fit both a gripped Nikon D300 and a Canon 1DMK3. I'm thinking the 4 inch "L" bracket will do the job but I was hoping that someone with experience with either of my cameras can confirm my thoughts? Thank you, Tim Murphy

A:
Yes the PLX4 4-inch tall L-bracket would fit both of these cameras fine. It will fit both cameras ok. However with universal L-brackets the battery may be restricted.

Q:
Will the Universal L Bracket (PLX4) work for the Canon 7D and Canon 5d IV?
Asked by:

A:
The PLX4 L-Bracket is recommended for tall camera bodies that have battery grips. If you do not use battery grips with your cameras then we would recommend the shorter L-Bracket part # PLX3 (3 inch Universal L-Bracket)

Q:
Hi, I have a Leica M10 with the Leica handgrip. With the handgrip, the hole under the camera became off centred. I have problem looking for a decent L-bracket till I saw your extendable bracket. I like your Universal L-Plate but I could not find a diagram with detailed dimensions. Can you advise me for both 3" and the 4" L-Plate, at fully extended, what is the clearance between the centre of the screw which will be used to screw into the camera base to the vertical part of the L-Plate? I need the above to see if my camera can fit in and which to order. Thanks and appreciate your prompt respond.

A:
Great, question. The distance is up to 82mm, from the center of the screw to the inner wall of the L-bracket.

Q:
Does the stand alone Vertical Part come with any connectors, or are they only included with the complete bracket?

A:
Thanks for asking. Well the connectors and our A10 port protector can be mounted with the ¼”-20 threads on its vertical component but they aren’t included inside the box. Below are what’s included when you order it online:
-L-Bracket
-Allen wrench
-#PASL1 Strap Loop

Q:
I read a review of someone saying this does not fit a gripped D850 camera. Can you verify this is so? Also, will this fit a gripped Canon 5div camera? Thanks for your time.

Q:
Problem with Vello battery grip for Canon 5DSR. The grip's base length is the same as the camera however the width is deeper than the Canon BG-E11; all L-brackets designed for the Canon BG-E11 do not fit the Vello. Will the PLX4x L-bracket work?
