This ProMediaGear plate is custom made specifically for Nikon D300 & D700 body  (without grip/battery pack) Since the  plate is custom designed it fits like a glove perfectly matching the camera shape. It also provides anti-rotation so that the plate doesn't slip or twist. Most of our users leave it on camera at all times and use with their Arca-Swiss type ball heads. It also features an optional removable strap loop that can be removed if desired.

Thanks to the anti-rotation pin this compact plate doesn't budge once fitted to the D300. The safety screws are another important feature for me.

This works great with my older D300 backup camera. I wish they had an L-bracket option, but this works great (and I can always drop the camera into a Portrait orientation with the ball-head mount on the tripod using this same mounting plate)
