Love this product so far! I'll talk about a couple things i don't like so far however. In my shipment i did not get an allen key that could insert in the spiked feet to take them out. I have items around that can do this but would have been nice to ship with the product. 2nd, when unscrewing the locks it is not as smoothe through the motion as I would have liked and if you take the screw locks off to clean and put back on, it seemed to not find the threads as easily I would have hoped. Those are a little nitpicky and overall, great product.

Beautiful and sturdy...with one minor flaw
I just received my TR-344 legs for Christmas yesterday and am over the moon with regard to the build quality. These legs are on a par with the Acratech GP ballhead I’m using in terms of machining and finish. There are few things I find as satisfying as a beautifully crafted piece of equipment that also functions beautifully. I did, however, discover one frustrating detail. When I unscrewed one of the feet to show my relatives the clever hidden spike design, I discovered that the hole in the spike was not large enough to insert the included 5/32 allen key into to unscrew It. What really puzzles me is that, when I removed all three feet this morning, I discovered that the holes in the other two feet are significantly larger and do fit the 5/32 allen key with room to spare. All three holes appear to be finished with a nice countersunk beveled edge, so I don’t think the smaller one wasn’t done being drilled out. I’m hoping the good folks at PMG will send me a replacement to match the two spikes with larger holes since I really only ever carry a 5/32 allen key in my camera bag. As for other stand-out details, the leg adjudtment system at the apex is great. They are easy to use even with gloves on this morning. I have yet to try adjusting the tension of the joints (I haven’t figured out what size tiny allen key to use). The twist locks on the legs are also wonderful to look at and, despite all of the machining, have no sharp edges and yet, are very tactile and grippy with or without gloves on. As for the previous reviewer’s comment about the leg extension not being super smooth, I had a similar experience the first couple of times I extended the legs, but I’ve found that it is easily remedied by giving the twist locks another 1/4 turn to fully loosen them. The included bubble level appears well calibrated when the tripod is on level ground. Overall, I am thrilled with these legs. I’m hoping they’ll be the last set I need to buy for many many years. Next up...a Katana Jr. gimbal?

Mr
My pre-purchase research found these legs the best on the market in this size category. And after a month of use, I have not been dissappointed. These legs are strong, stable, light and rigid and beautifully made. I love the machined all-aluminum knucles, the reversible spike feet and the appearance of the 10 layer carbon. I finally have my tripod for life I think.

Solid yet light weight
I ordered one of these tripods recently as I needed a lighter and smaller than my main PMG tripod the TR424L which is a big tripod, when looking online and reading its maximum height is only 150cm I thought this wouldn't be tall enough since I'm 175cm tall. Once I got the tripod I was happy with my decision as its a great working height and with the edition of the prototype centre column it adds a further bit of height this will be added to the site soon for sale. I have had it to the full height and there's no movement in the tripod and the apex is very solid and looks great. Each foot has a hardened steel pike in it which is great for slippery surfaces and in forests where the ground is soft. I'm looking forward to using this when I go out hiking as the 1.4kg lighter. My bigger PMG tripod I've had for over a year now and its been through a lot and still going strong to this day even after being in water right up to the head, with regular maintenance you'll get years out of this tripod.

Love the tripod. Have been using it a lot. Bought with red apex. Gives it a bit of color contrast. Installed the neoprene leg covers to protect them from scratches, etc. Also purchased the 42mm tripod with the blue colored apex as well. Have not used that tripod, but is available it needed.

Now that I've had some hands on time with this tripod I can say the function and future needs of this tripod are anything you could ask for. It's very smooth when slightly turning the adjustment collars what seems to be a quarter turn to release. These collars made on aluminum have a great feel to them and your grip is very secure when turning. I'm 6' and this size fits me perfectly. The multi positions it allows has fit and exceeded my needs. The legs offer either a solid non slip foot or a spike which changes easily.I have not had the opportunity to try the head mount accessory. I'm totally impressed with the high quality and the smooth function of this tripod. My only regret is I didn't buy this 3 years sooner. I'm using the Sony A7RIII with the Sony 200-600mm lens and find this works perfectly.I highly recommend Pro Media Gear.

Great Tripod
So I began looking for a stronger but light tripod for some of my gear. I had actually never heard of Pro Media Gear until I began my searching. I bounced back and forth between a couple different brands and finally decided on the PMG TR344. The tripod is lighter than I thought it would be and very sturdy. I am still getting used to not having the center column like on my smaller tripods. The height is great for me at 5'11". Coupled with The BH1 I am very pleased that I chose this tripod and head. I think I will end up getting the half ball leveling head for it also.
