Mr.
I had been shopping for a new carbon fiber tripod for a few months, and had a hard time deciding between Gitzo and RRS. I was about to place an order for a Gitzo when I ran across ProMediaGear. I liked what I saw on their website, but was disappointed that I couldn’t find very much in the way of reviews for their tripods. I called their office and talked to Tom, one of the owners of the company; he was very nice and answered all of my questions. After he told me that they had a thirty day return policy and that they even pay for return shipping, I felt I had nothing to lose. Later that day, I ordered a Pro-stix TR344L with a red anodized apex; it comes in black, also. When I received it, I was amazed at the quality of the machine work. The apex and the twist locks are machined aluminum. The apex also has a bubble level and three 1/4-20 accessory ports. On the bottom of the apex is a place to hook the included caribiner to hang a bag or something from it. One design feature I really like is that they use a method where you push out the leg angle lock from behind and push it back in when you have it at the desired angle. This works great with gloves on; I have another tripod that you have to pull the lock out from the front and I cannot grab it with gloves on. They also use 10X layer carbon fiber; I don’t know how much stronger this actually makes it, but everyone else uses only 6 or 8X. I know weight ratings don’t mean much, but this thing is rated at 60lbs., and I think it will hold more than that; it is stout and rock solid. They also include stainless steel spikes that Gitzo and RRS charge extra for. I also like how low to the ground this tripods gets. A friend of mine recently bought a Gitzo series 4 tripod, so I took mine over to his house to compare and make a decision to either keep or return my TR344L. His Gitzo is a nice tripod that has legs that are a little larger in diameter, but mine seems every bit as stable if not more so. I do prefer the machined aluminum over the cast apex that Gitzo uses. I didn’t do any kind of controlled comparisons, but all things considered, I decided to keep the ProMediaGear. I’m sure the others deserve the reputation they have, but I believe ProMediaGear is right up there with the best of them. I have nothing to gain by writing this and have no affiliation with ProMediaGear other than being a very satisfied customer, and I believe these guys deserve consideration when purchasing top quality photo gear.

Love the product however, anyone that purchases this product beware of the feet. The first day I used it I lost one of the feet and my boyfriend ordered me another one for the wonderful price of $50l. He, I and several friends have purchased tripods from pro-media and are happy with everything but the feet. Recommend you wrap the feet with plumbers tape and then screw in. Additionally make sure you check the feet on a regular basis.

I've been happy enough with my aluminum tripods over the years in most all circumstances. However, I found myself in a wheat field in SE Washington last summer with what seemed like sustained hurricane force winds. My camera strap was flapping like a flag and the aluminum legs were vibrating from the force of the wind. I found myself concerned about my camera and lens for the first time ever. I'm sure a tripod with carbon fiber legs will blow over the same as one with aluminum legs, but being in what I consider extreme conditions made me really think about the quality of the tripod I was using. This began a search for a more sturdy tripod, one that would protect my expensive camera bodies and lenses. My aluminum tripod does not have spiked feet. My new Pro-Stix 71" comes with spiked feet built in. The spiked feet combined with the very sturdy legs of the TR344L tripod will allow me to plant this in the ground and be confident that my gear is safe. Besides the tripods rigidity, the workmanship is incredible. The more time I spend with this tripod the more I'm starting to appreciate its beauty. Yes, it is a beautiful tripod. The carbon fiber is as smooth as glass and the twist locks are made of machined aluminum. Does anyone else make twist locks out of machined aluminum??? The apex allows for attachments to be installed with thread mounts. It just a well thought out tripod (and it's pretty.) I bought this tripod with the Katana Jr Gimbal head for my heavier lenses and pano's. Using the gimbal head I realize I need the leveling bowl that is offered by ProMedia Gear. I would recommend the leveling bowl for anyone that doesn't want to fuss with constantly leveling the tripod. I am happier with my purchase now that I have used it for a few weeks and look forward to using it for many years to come.

After all the internet searches and tedious comparisons I found only one real problem with this tripod. “I love it more than my camera,” and I can trust this beast of a tripod to hold it firmly to my composition!!!! I’m so glad I found ProMediaGear before I purchased the RRS alternative. Thanks to the guys at ProMediaGear for accommodating my needs and listening to the needs of their customers. It’s a truly refreshing change from the norm and I won’t need a jar of vaseline if I need a replacement part. Hehe!!!

I Waited Way Too Long - Love My New Tripod
OMG - I can't believe how much I LOVE my new tripod. Easy to use, so lightweight and SO STABLE. I am one of those individuals who started out with a low-range to a mid-range tripod as I invested heavily in my gear. After seeing a video by Steve Perry and waiting and waiting and waiting - I finally made the leap and purchased this tripod, and I can't say enough about it. In fact - if there were a "10 Star" rating it wouldn't be enough. You invest in your camera and lens and it just makes sense to have it mounted on something as stable as the TR344L Pro Carbon Fiber Tripod. On-the-fence - my advice, DO NOT WAIT - Buy yourself this tripod - You will not be disappointed, you'll love it and you'll have great results with it.

Incredible quality
Outstanding customer service since they answered all my crazy questions. I love to research things so this was fun for me. I looked at all the brands like RRS and Gitzo and have owned many of them. They are all very good of course. I just have to say this tripod is rock solid and for the weight, size, quality and price it wasn’t a tough choice!!! Buy with confidence. Could be the last tripod you'll ever buy if you do.

I own too many tripods. That is hard to say for a professional photographer, but I do. From ancient aluminum Gitzo's (Studex and a Studex Giant that weighs as much as my truck) to a RIES wooden beast to assorted mini-pods for specialized work. I recently discovered PMG tripods via a recommendation of a photographer friend. I phoned Tony at PMG and we had a lovely conversation about their tripods and accesories. I am impressed with this company, their capabilities and attitude. I placed an order for a TR344L and within a month, will order the center column when it becomes available. I expect that the TR424L will find its way to me before long. The tripod arrived within three-days of ordering. It is impressive. Solid, well designed, built like a tank and considerably lighter than my aluminum Gitzo Studex. You can tell that the tripod was designed for working pros. I love that it is made in the USA. (sorry Gitzo) and that they offer innovative products with a fresh approach to design and usability. (check out their take on balls heads and how they re-thought small flash usage with brackets and clamps) The kicker: many photographers are now shooting video in addition to still photography. PMG makes it easy to switch out from a solid plate to bowl system. (75mm for the 34 series and 100mm for the 42 series tripods) My hope is that that PMG will create plates for the Fuji GFX 50R and in the future, an alternative to my Gitzo Studex Giant. This is an up and coming company (founded 2009) that is making solid kit for working pros. I plan to transition to all PMG tripods - that is how good these pods are. Anybody want to buy some well-loved Gtizo's?

Mr.
After countless hours of tedious research, I narrowed my decision for a professional quality tripod down to RRS, Gitzo and PMG. I require a 55” tripod with the option to go taller if needed and the PMG TR344L fit the bill perfectly. Fully extended, the base mount is a few inches over my head at 71” (I’m 5’ 10”). With the bottom section closed, the TR344L is 53.5” and just about perfect for my needs. The Gitzo and RRS tripods I researched were several inches on either side of 55” fully extend or with the bottom section closed which did not meet my needs. I see no flaws in this product and am extremely happy with the quality. I’m certain it will out live me. Highly recommend!

Easily my favorite tripod I've ever owned. Well constructed, light, and very VERY sturdy and stable. I purchased with the ball adapter and GKJR. The combo is AWESOME and easy to level properly. This is some serious gear that I know will last me a very long time. The cost is extremely worth it for the strength and reassurance factors alone. But it just looks so cool on top of that :) Thanks PMG!

I just received my TR344L Tripod today. Honestly I wasn't familiar with ProMediaGear at all but your tripod was highly recommended by Adorama. This is not my first rodeo with tripods as I have many from Induro and Really Right Stuff but I found myself in need of a taller tripod, but not necessarily heavier. After receiving the tripod today I've tested it with very heavy loads including camera ands EF600 f/4L lens and the tripod handles wind and vibrations very well. Looking forward to seeing how well it handles the test of time. I've already ordered the leveling ball directly from you and I think I'm going to order the Kitana gimbal in the next day or so as the one I have I am not happy with. Thanks again and keep innovating.

Great Product
The old adage, you get what you pay for, is exemplified by this tripod. The fit and finish (build quality) is second to none. The functionality of the design and features is evidence that Pro Media understands the needs of serious photographers. I use it with a Manfrotto 405 geared head and a gripped Nikon 850 with various lenses and it provides unwavering functional stability. I particularly like the accessory threaded mounting holes, the ease of changing the leg angles, and just the overall feeling of confidence in its use. I got it with the red option which matches the red Manfrotto logo and will match the Pro Media Gear Ball Head once they are back in stock :) No one says you have to be solely functional, a bit of style never hurts. Thanks for a great product.

Fantastic quality
Just took this tripod to Kauai with me and first thought it still would be a little to heavy for the long hikes, but was surprised how sleek it is just hanging in my backpacks right strap and feeling almost like a part of my body.Stability is amazing and I noticed that quality uped up in my landscape resolution.Ball heads are currently out of stock so that’s only a part that makes me little sad but hope they will show up soon and can’t wait to get one.I highly recommend these tripod legs. Also 71 is tall! So you can get into the deeper rivers and all that.

Don't know why I don't see more around
I love this thing. I replaced my Gitzo GT3542LS with it and the extra height is wonderful. Tony was fantastic at answering my questions by both email and phone. I find it so much easier to carry this than my Gitzo and its actually taller. The twist locks are wonderful and I find the angle stops operation better than anything I have had before. Right now I am using my RRS BH55 on it but as soon as the PMG BH1 is back in stock I will be getting one to complete the package. If its made as well as these legs are, I will have a fantastic setup. Thanks for making a great product here in USA.

Quest for my perfect tripod
I was looking for a tall, lightweight carbon fiber tripod that would extend above standing people for concert videography, also landscape, and wildlife Photography, be rock solid, compact when folded and light as possible. I knew this was a "tall" order at an affordable price. I looked at Benro, and Induro, nothing they had was close. Of course Gitzo, and Really R S had what I needed, but at a big price tag. Both where heavier than the TR334L by about a pound. I saw a youtube video from PMG, that seemed to be what I was looking for. After 6 months of saving and deliberating I decided to buy it. Along with the TRB3475 TRB3475 Pro-Stix 75mm Bowl Adapter for 34mm Series Tripods, and accompanying TRBU75 TRBU75 Pro-Stix 75mm Half Ball Leveling Head. I talked to PMG directly, and asked if there was an advantage to direct purchase, as opposed to a vendor. They are AMAZING! I got the Large Tripod Gear Gig Bag with Shoulder Strap and Internal Adjustable Dividers, thrown in for free, and didn't need to pay tax! What an amazing bargain. The quality of everything is beyond my experience. I have friends with Gitzo's that wish they had this instead. I used it so far at a few Street festivals, and carrying it is a dream. Got far enough above the crowd to make a great video. I took it to a dirt bike hill clime, and again captured perfect pics. Carries with my backpack on hikes, and don't hardly notice it. I'm 69 Years old, and have physical issues that make all this more important than to younger, healthier folks. Did some Light painting with a local photo group, I was the "envy of the crowd. It was windy, and I had the shutter open over a minute some times. Tack sharp images. I have 2 minor criticisms. First I was unpleasantly surprised that the half-ball leveling head, and bowl adaptor aren't listed as a single item, after all you can't use one without the other. Should be one item at one price. Secondly, this "leveling" head by definition should have an attached level, come on guys, almost perfect. I think this is an incredible product from an amazing, respect full and generous company! BIG THANKS!

Have used the tripod now for two months on multiple occasions. Build quality, materials, ease of use, smoothness, stability and versatility first rate. Better than anything I've ever used and will probably be the last one I ever purchase. Carbon fiber legs . . . very cool and tough. The only thing you could improve upon is develop your own line of leg cushions. I know LensCoat offers some, but I couldn't bear putting on their "camoish" one to cover up that carbon fiber. I know you could design a more appropriate complimentary sleeve. Not quite ready yet to go to my local hose distributor to look for some neoprene.

Mr.
I have been looking to retire my 20+ year old aluminum tripod due to the weight of over 8 pounds. I had considered carbon fiber from two other manufactures. I recently discovered Pro Media gear and gave them a good look. The reviews were all positive and I liked the improved design features. The day after receiving the TR344L I went on a night sky shoot and it worked out well. I was able to adjust as needed in the dark. The real test came a few days later when I used my 300 F 2.8 and 2X converter on some migrating geese. The tripod was easily up to the task of supporting my gear as one would expect from a tripod of this caliber. For me the deciding factor was two fold in choosing the Pro media gear TR344L. They took a good idea and made it just a little better. The 30 day return with no questions told me they were confident in their product.

Awesome !
I looked at all tripods of all brands for weeks, I ordered a gitzo that I sent back (apex too wide, less tall than the PMG and heavier, and design too flashy), and I found the TR344L: an incredible tripod! Light, small folded, and very high, the apex is compact (it fits into my standard tripod bags), no unnecessary mechanism. Very well designed, all black, discreet! CNC machining is beautiful. Very rigid once locked! I use it with an Arca P0 ball head and my PMG universal bracket, incredible combo! Good job PMG!

Excellent upgrade
I found PMG a while ago and purchased one of their L-brackets, and was very impressed with its build as well as innovative design Similarly this is truly an amazing tripod. I have been using a very old Gitzo 320 aluminum tripod, which is solid, but heavy and the legs rotate in the legs. This PMG tripod is incredibly light for its size and stability--more so than the other fine brands out there. I opted for the extra tall version, as I was frequently finding my previous one too short if I was on a hill or rock where at least one leg had to be lower than me. The extra section only cost me .4 pounds, so I figured it would be a great idea (and it was). I used this once when I wanted a high angle view from level ground--I almost couldn't reach the camera! I am average height. I like the threaded attachment points and the machined aluminum leg locks (a couple of the rubber rings on my Gitzo came off--these never well). Overall I would say it is nearly perfect.

Incredible Tripod
I've been using a Feisol tripod for about 5 yrs, and although it worked fine for most of my shooting, I wanted something that was taller for roughly the same weight and minimum height when folded up. I was close to pulling the trigger on a Really Right Stuff tripod, until I saw many comparisons being made with the TR344L and the TR424L. Without a doubt, I have absolutely no regrets purchasing this tripod and it checked everything that I was looking for. In addition, the inclusion of two screw threads along the side of the apex is really nice, which the RRS tripod I was considering, didn't have. This opens up a lot of possibilities of what accessories you can add to these legs. The moment I took it out of its packaging, I can already tell the massive difference in quality compared to my old tripod. The 10-layer weave of carbon fiber feels much tougher and you can even tell by the sound it makes when you tap the tubes; cheaper CF tripods sounds a bit more hollow and plastic-y whereas this one sounds a little more "metallic." Cleaning the tripod is also very simple to work with and has rubber O-rings in all of the right places. I'm super excited to use this tripod and I'm looking forward to the many adventures that I'll have with it. If you can afford it, get it. This really is a buy-it-for-life purchase.
