Description:

The Pro-Stix Carbon Fiber Series Tripods are designed and built for the professional videographer or photographer looking for the toughest and most rugged tripod. The tripods are rated to support loads up to 125 lbs. on the precision engineered aluminum truss apex. The apex features an interchangeable flat plate that can be removed and transitioned to various accessories such as our #TRB75 75mm Leveling Bowl insert. The 42 Series Truss Apex includes a safety lock button that won't allow the plate to prematurely fall out of the apex without depressing the release. The apex plate has a 3/8-16 standard mounting thread for Ball Heads, Video Heads, Gimbals, Sliders and much more.

The carbon fiber legs have 3 adjustable locking angle positions to accommodate any shooting situation, high to low. Each side of the apex features a 1/4-20 threaded adapter port to mount additional accessories. Each leg also incorporates a 1/4-20 female adapter as well. Lastly, each tripod foot has a hardened stainless-steel spike integrated inside the tube. The entire line-up of ProMediaGear Pro-Stix Carbon Fiber Tripods are precision CNC machined in our factory located in Tinley Park, IL USA.

Beyond my expectations.
I'm a landscape and a wildlife photographer. For landscaping I like to do long exposure photos using a 15 stop nd filter. My major concern when I purchased this tripod was its quality, stability and durability since I photograph on very windy conditions. I pushed the limit of this tripod in every sense, I took photos over 30 minutes long right in the ocean with strongs winds and this thing didn't even moved. I didn't have the need to put a small bean bag on top of the lens or camera neither the need to attach my camera bag to the base of the tripod, this is something that I was used to do. The design of this tripod was well thought out when it was built. The legs and the base are very strong and firm, the locking mechanism of the legs are very well constructed, finally no springs poping out! The base can be easily removed if you want to install a ball leveling base, no more screws to deal with! The inserts on the base are an extra bonus, now I can attach my Go Pro camera to the tripod. The tripod's feet come with metal spikes(heavy duty quality), in preivious tripods that I purchased I had to buy them separatly. I decided to buy the TR424-67.25"tall since I usually shot on uneven terrain even when I find a spot on a river to photograph a waterfall. For wildlife those extra inches make a big difference, now I can attach my 500mm lens and point it at a 45 degree angle and don't have to get down to get the shot. This tripod weights about 6 pounds, landscape photographers might think that it might be heavy to carry around but that's not the case. I have the MindShift Gear rotation 180 Profesional Backpack and it comes with a harnest where you can attach a tripod to the left side of the bagback, it can hold 20 pounds. When I attach the tripod the the harnest the weight is well distributed. Overall this is the best tripod that I have purchased so far and honestly I felt I was taking a risk when I bought it since I didn't find many reviews in the internet. This a great product and a fine piece of engineering...I highly recommend it.

Using the tripod for several months and I am impressed with it's performance. Rock solid with super telephoto lens weight around 15 pounds. This tripod collapse short enough to fit nicely on my back pack keeping weight low and not sticking out to hang up on obstacles when you have to navigate while hiking. Leg locks work great and they are fast in uses. High quality in fit and finish really beautiful work. It's fitted with a leveling ball base and this has made life easy and fast to setup, what a pleasure to use.

Bill Farr @ WGFStudio53
Purchased this unit on-line from B&H in NYC in Oct "17. I did extensive research on all things tripods beforehand and so glad I made the purchase. The attention to detail & workmanship is second to none on these legs. Been using them for 6 mos. now, rock solid construction, precision machining throughout. The incl. spikes work flawlessly, well thought out design incl. the o-ring at their base. The 11 female 1/4" 20 females all around the main head & tops of the legs along with a guide pin hole is nothing short of pure beauty, allowing for the use of countless accessories. Bottom line, there is nothing out there today at any price point that matches up to these Made In The USA legs... Bill Farr @ WGF Studio53... :-)

After spending thousands on "other" tripods I finely did the right thing and bought the best. The TR424 will handle anything you can put on it and it is rock steady. Workmanship is superb as is expected with US made. I especially like the added mounting holes for accessories on the yoke. Yes, it is expensive but once for life and you will not be disappointed.

Should come with heavy duty bag
I think the TR424 is an excellent heavy duty tripod with one of the best GRAPHITE WEAVES ON THE MARKET. I must say though that for the amount it cost, it should come with a heavy duty carry bag. Most other reputable tripod makers include a nice nylon bag as part of their tripod package. I also find the upper leg locks to be rather stiff and not uniform in locking tension.

WOW
At first, I was imagining how great it would be have this particular tripod- but could not justify it practically, as none of my gear is overwhelmingly heavy. No Wildlife or sports lenses, 200mm being the longest. Then I got a camera Jib. So I ordered the TR424 right away, same day. Previously I had purchased the L-Bracket, SS2 mounts, plates--then after my confidence was built--a monopod. With demonstrated examples in my hand of superior craftsmanship, I did not have any problem whatsoever making the investment. It arrived, a masterpiece of thoughtful engineering, attention to detail- light as a feather and stronger than anything I have ever seen. Every single edge is beveled, smooth. This thing is a work of art- got it in red! It does not budge, it does not vibrate, it does not flex. Its like a Ferrari and an M1 Abrams tank merged into a tripod.

wow
Far exceeds all my personal expectations. Upgrades were overdue and was so close to purchasing the equivalent with the RRS legs however was convinced in this direction. The design and build quality is exceptional and look forward to putting some miles on these, no regrets. And US made!

I've been shooting a Nikon D750 with the TR424 58" tripod base and BH50 pmg head. The carbon pattern is cool. Stable as a rock even in decent wind. Fairly light to pack over trails. When i put the head on the base, i thought hmmm, i could have got the smaller version since this head looks a little underwhelming with the wide topped sticks. But i like it for being over built. Feels secure holding 300mm with 1.4 tele being my longest lens, so far. After shooting in sand, i took all the legs apart for cleaning with no issues. What's missing? I'd like to see not only made in USA, but also "Made In Chicago" on pmg products like so much of my stuff as a boy growing up in Gary. Customer service has been prompt and helpful. Dave

AMAZING
Absolutely love this tripod. It's a solid piece of engineering and gorgeous. I waited and did a lot of research before giving in to buy this tripod. Its a bit expensive but trust me you will be glad you did and probably the only tripod you will ever need. I got the one with the red apex and it looks stunning. Easy to carry around and pretty light for a tripod this size (58" with 42mm legs). The design is immaculate and sturdy. This thing can hold any camera and lens. Absolutely no regrets.

like all promedia gear this tri pod is built to last a life time and then some, for its size it is still very light and easy to carry with you , legs are very well sealed and easy to adjust, and locks work easy and stay locked , a great tripod to add to your camera kit, and as always the people who work there are easy to deal with and are what puts the pro in pro media gear
