The Pro-Stix Carbon Fiber Series Tripods are designed and built for the professional videographer or photographer looking for the toughest and most rugged tripod. The tripods are rated to support loads up to 125 lbs. on the precision engineered aluminum truss apex. The apex features an interchangeable flat plate that can be removed and transitioned to various accessories such as our #TRB75 75mm Leveling Bowl insert. The 42 Series Truss Apex includes a safety lock button that won't allow the plate to prematurely fall out of the apex without depressing the release. The carbon fiber legs have 3 adjustable locking angle positions to accommodate any shooting situation, high to low. Each side of the apex features a 1/4-20 threaded adapter port to mount additional accessories. Each leg also incorporates a 1/4-20 female adapter as well. Lastly, each tripod foot has a hardened stainless-steel spike integrated inside the tube. TR424L
Folks, This is the one I've been waiting for! I recently acquired a Nikon 600/f4 and needed a new tripod to adequately support it. Being an IT geek (and former pro photographer) I am OCB when it comes to research. I looked at RRS (TVC 34L) and the Gitzo equivalents, both of which are well made and serviceable. However, I wanted a heavy duty carbon fiber tripod that would not only support my 600/f4 but would be tall enough, but still light enough, to provide stable leg extension on uneven terrain. The others would provide that additional extension at the expense of a fairly small diameter 4th leg diameter, which is the inherent weak spot when it comes to stability. Beginning with a 42mm diameter top leg, the TR424L legs descend in diameter approximately 4mm per leg (as do the others), providing a 34mm third leg, which is the typical longest leg needed during level shooting for a 6'0" photographer. That is the top leg diameter starting point for the competitors in this price range. When I received this tripod, I was amazed by its robust construction, well designed features and outstanding quality and engineering, To say it is a beast would be a gross understatement. A beast that is still light and manageable . While I shoot using a heavy duty ball head, my keeper rate for images at slower shutter speeds has improved dramatically on this tripod. I am now exploring the Pro Media Katana Jr, gimbal head.

I've had this tripod for almost a month now and from my experiences with it I love it! I've been using manfrotto since 2009 but I haven't been pleased with some of there bigger tripods they brought out like the 055 that has become a pain to use now so I needed something new. After looking at Gitzo and RRS I came across PMG and was loving the look of the gear and the features they pack into there stuff, I appreciate gear thats been well engineered and thought out for us that need reliable and strong gear. The amount of mounting points for accessories is brilliant I've used it a few times for my magic arm for triggers or anything. The legs are very solid it just doesn't move even when fully extended which is impressive and the tripod can support up to 56kg which is mind blowing and far stronger than what others can do! I will be getting more gear from PMG from here on out as I'd like to support them and I'd use my social media channels to help get them out there to. You won't be disappointed with this as you get more than your moneys worth! :)

Fabulous Set of Legs
I was originally sooooo close to getting an RRS TVC-44 (meaning just about 2 days away from the purchase) when I accidentally stumbled upon a video review of this tripod. The spring-loaded locking joints on the RRS model had admittedly given me some concern, which was the reason that I didn't jump in as quickly for that model, as there were many people who noted long-term issues with the springs. Not only is the ProMediaGear TR424L designed to carry a greater payload than the RRS, the construction is magnificent and well thought-out: from its quick release apex, to its sturdy manual locking system, to the built-in spikes and beautiful finish. This set of legs will last my lifetime and beyond.

Best in Class
I just got the TR424L as my new primary tripod and I couldn’t be happier. Pros: Incredible build and craftsmanship. 42mm top leg diameter. Awesome looking 10x carbon fiber weave. 77” maximum height so you’re prepared for any terrain. Modular possibilities with numerous attachment points on and around apex. Convenient top plate quick release mechanism. The free push/pull angle lock mechanisms are so much better than spring-loaded ratcheting-style legs. Built-in foot spikes! The optional leveling base is high functioning and well priced. Truly exceptional customer service experience!! Cons: 6lbs. Depending on your situation, the 34 series may be more practical. Verdict: this is absolutely the finest tripod out there! You wont be disappointed.

Great Tripod!
I received my TR424L PMG CF tripod and it is a beauty. Very well built, finished, engineered, functional and sturdy. I have previously owned a few Bogen (now Monfrotto), two Gitzo series 3 tripods, a wood Zone 6 tripod (supposedly the best ever made - it wasn't), a Tiltall and others I cannot even remember their brands of names. Before purchasing this tripod, I considered a Gitzo Series 5, a Really Right Stuff TVC 45 and a Leofoto series 5 tripod. My PMG TR424L was my choice this last week to take to Bosque Del Apache NWR in New Mexico. One of my lenses is a Nikkor 600mm f4 VR coupled to a Nikon D850. Between the tripod and the lens is my Whimberley WH-200 gimbal head. I ordered an extra tripod plate so I could mount my Really Right Stuff BH-55 ball head to it and this facilitates a fast change from gimbal to ball head by turning the release lever on the tripod, pushing the release button and reinserting the other tripod plate and locking it in place. My maiden week with the PMG TR424L was great. The tripod sets up easily. The 600mm combo (sometimes with a 1.4x converter) was steady and it felt more than confident in use. I like the way the legs can spread out quickly for a quick lowering of the tripod without retracting the legs. The tripod looks and feels just right. Funny how you can go to a place like Bosque Del Apache and see crowds of other photographers. What really gets me is how some of these photographers have the $2000-$12000 lenses wobbley balanced on pencil leg tripods. To me that is scary. For two days while at Bosque, the wind blew quite hard. I felt confident with my TR424L in the wind and while the 600mm lens would blow around like a weather vane, the tripod did not waver. Now the only con I could find about the PMG tripod: the aluminum leg locks. They are large, easy to grasp and probably will outlast the plastic ones on Gitzo and RRS and others. However, when shooting one morning at 17 degrees, it was difficult to grasp the leg locks because of the cold. II had difficulty grasping the legs and turning them even with gloves on. I am thinking of getting a bicycle inter tube and cutting some tight fitting thick 1-3/8" rubber bands and covering the leg locks with them. Or some other coating to apply to the leg locks. Maybe that would help with the grip in cold weather and gloves. I really like the PMG TR424. Great looking and a joy to use. Makes me want to get more PMG gear. Attached is a image taken using my new tripod.

I am extremely happy with this tripod. Coming from a motion picture industry background, I'm accustomed to professional heavy duty, well machined support gear. This tripod fits that level of quality, yet is very lightweight for the strength and size. The stability ensures that my long exposure shots are sharp and my camera is safe and secure. The height is amazing, which has helped me frame better shots over the heads of people passing by and has proven extremely helpful positioning the camera on a hillside down a slope. This tripod has actually made my photography more fun, as it is a joy to use! I find it easy to carry around and worth it knowing I always have the right tool for the job with this. I look forward to buying more Pro Media Products, as I am convinced of their quality is PROFESSIONAL GRADE.

Excellent Tripod
I've been using a Really Right Stuff TVC-33S for a few years and have been quite happy. Since TVC-33S is only 49.8" (even though RRS claim its 50.8"), I wanted to get a tripod with more height and perhaps even more stability. I was seriously thinking about TVC-34L and the TVC-44 but after some research, I came across the tripods by ProMediaGear. I was intrigued and after reading some positive reviews thought I'd give them a try. I decided to go for the TR424L model instead of the TR344L model because the TR344L legs are actually slimmer than RRS 3 series i.e. RRS has a 2.6mm advantage: PMG TR344L top leg section diameter = 34.0mm RRS TFC-34L top leg section diameter = 36.6mm On the other hand for the 4 series models PMG has a 1.3mm advantage over comparable RRS model: PMG TR424L top leg section diameter = 42.0mm RRS TVC-44 top leg section diameter = 40.7mm The tripod is very well made and it will most likely outlive me. Also, since I'll only use the top 3 sections most of the time, and the sections diameters for the first 3 sections are 42mm, 38mm and 34mm respectively i.e. the thrid section is almost as thick as the top section of my TVC-33S, this tripod is as solid as I'll ever need anything to be. The features I like so far are the spring loaded apex and interchangeable mount. Makes it really easy to switch between my Arca Swiss L60 geared head on PMG leveling base and my KPS T5 ballhead on PMG standard mount/base. Having the spikes built into the legs is also very nice, although I have not had a chance to test them. I also like the 1/4-20 threaded adapter port to mount additional accessories. This is great for mouting whatever you need to mount. In the past I had contraptions hanging from tripod legs for my surface pro tablet. This is a much better solution. All in all I am quite happy. The price of the comparable RRS TVC-44 tripod (plus spikes) is approximately USD $300 more for a -1.3 mm leg diameter disadvantage and -2.2 inch max height disadvantage. So, I feel its a higher quality product at a lower price.

LOVING MY TALL TRIPOD
I was looking for a Strong tripod that could handle big lenses 400F2.8, 600mm, 800mm after looking at just about every brand of tripod out there and playing with a large part of them at the Photo Expo in New York. I came across a guy in Colorado while chasing Mule deer with that owned the TR424L pro stix 77 inch 42mm legs. Once i play with it i really liked it and being that we already owned Promedia Gimbal heads and really like the quality of them i figured i would buy one. So when i got back home i started looking at the 42MM but figured all needed was the 58" tall one. But when i was ordering it while talking to Tony he stated that i should look at the 77" that the extra weight was so small i would never know the difference between the two. So i went with his suggestion and bought the 77" tall one. MAN I AM SO GLAD I DID!!!!!!! The first trip out with it to the Great smoky mountains I used the long legs so i could set up on a rock while waiting on some black bear cubs to wake up to get the shot i wanted. While i was able to set on the rock waiting and ready every one else had to stand there for a quit long time are set on the ground with the ticks and not comfortable or ready for the shot. The whole time I was setting there nice and comfortable i was thinking about what Tony said you may not need them all the time but if you need them you'll have them. The tripod is built super strong it worked great with my 400F2.8 and other big lenses there was no shake compared to my other tripod witch is a very nice high end tripod. But it can't compete with the 42mm legs of this beast. Buying this tripod was a great choices and i know if i ever need the long legs i have them there just in case i need them. So if you are looking for the best built super strong tall tripod. I would for sure give this one a hard look. Thanks for the help Tony!!!!!

Very Solid
This tripod is solid, sturdy, and superb craftsmanship. I have tried several cheaper tripods before and this one will probably last me a lifetime. The joints are strong and the legs do not flex when the wind picks up. I have $8K of my photo gears sitting on this tripod when I shoot big surf in Hawaii and I have every confidence that it will deliver great performance every time. Shipping was fast and the friendly staffs actually answers the phone when I called to ask questions.

Wonderful tripod .
The PMG TR424L tripod is wonderful - it is strong and every part of it is well designed and beautifully made. It is the nicest tripod that I've ever used. The TR424L has a modular apex featuring a well designed quick release that allows photographers to rapidly change top plates (and whatever head that is attached) by loosening the thumb screw and pushing the safety lock button. My gimbal head is permanently attached to a 75mm half ball leveler + bowl adapter. My ball head is on the flat plate supplied with the TR424L tripod. Switching between different plates, bowls, or columns (with or without heads) just takes a few seconds; switching is easier and quicker than on 34-series tripods which have 6 allen screws securing the top plate to the apex. 42-series tripods feature a wide apex the separate the legs more than the narrower apex of 34-series tripods. Increased leg spacing increases overall stiffness during use and prevents pinched fingers when folding legs. Leg tension is easily adjusted on all PMG tripods. Tensioning requires only a single allen wrench (supplied). Once adjusted, tension stays adjusted. I typically use my TR424L with only its 3 thickest leg sections extended. These legs are massive, enough so that the tripod can be conveniently lowered using the topmost leg adjustment collar, instead of following the normal practice of using a lower, harder to reach collar. Tripod height with only the top 3 legs extended is 58", sufficient for even fairly tall photographers (I'm 6' 2") on level ground. The minimum diameter leg section in my usual configuration is 34mm, which is equal to the maximum leg diameter available of the lighter, more portable, more compact, less strong, and less rigid PMG 34-series tripods. The TR424L is a versatile tripod. Full extension is useful on uneven ground or when photographing birds overhead. The TR424L supports all cameras and lens, including the heaviest. On windy days, the 42-series tripod resists buffeting more than lighter tripods. The TR424L tripod is a great choice for the studio or in situations where portability isn't a primary concern. However, if a tripod must be carried a long way, the 4.3 pound TR344L might be a better choice than the 6.4 pound TR424. I own both the PMG 34-series and a 42-series tripods. I prefer to use the 42-series whenever the situation allows.

Love this tripod!
This is the best tripod I have seen or used. I needed a tall tripod as I'm 6'2" and am tired of bending over to take photos. There is no worries about that with this tripod! I shoot Olympus EM-1ii with the 300mm so this tripod is way over kill for this M43 camera and it's wonderful stabilization but will work wonders for astro/ time-lapse photography and long range bird photography. I don't plan on hiking back country with this tripod at 6+lb but for the right image I could. I could have went with the 344L but I wanted the quick release bowl system to change heads with out tools. The bowl system is almost smooth enough to use as a limited range gimbal. I took the attached photo for the fun of it and to show off the tripod in deep snow and un level ground.

I have been able to take the 424L on a few outings in the last month and have enjoyed using it very much. I am 6'3" so the height of the 424L is very good for me, especially when most of my photography is in the mountains. I am constantly on a slope and or placing the tripod over small boulders or fallen trees. The included spikes have already come in handy and I like the way they are built into the feet of the tripod. The 424L legs came with a good tension adjustment at the apex, just enough to hold them in place when opening or closing and not to hard to move. The 424L is very sturdy and very well built, it is a SOLID American made tripod. I am Very HAPPY with the 424L and would highly recommend it.

I have the biggest of the 42mm series and I could not be happier. This thing is exactly what I’d hoped it would be. My bank account was pretty sad when I ordered it, but I’m confident that I’ll never need to purchase another tripod. It’s built like a tank and far exceeds any other tripod I’ve previously owned. If you can afford one, I highly recommend it and would be shocked if you were anything but 100% satisfied. Same recommendation goes for their L bracket (D850) and their ball head. I’m a very happy customer. Thanks, Pro Media Gear!!!

Craftsmanship at its finest!
This purchase has been long coming. I just didn't know it would have been PMG. I was originally looking at RRS but stumbled across PMG during my research. It was the attention to detail, the pride that shown through the content on their website, and believe it or not the sounds. Yes, the sounds of the materials while watching the videos clearly demonstrated the quality of materials and craftsmanship. Anyone who has an appreciation for this grade of excellence understands what I mean. I basically made this purchase without ever touching a PMG product and felt 100% sure of my investment and it didn't disappoint. This is a fine tripod that offers confidence and a sense of pleasure each time it's used - it's the gift that keeps on giving! Nicely done PMG and fine workmanship.

I bought this along with the GK Katana Gimbal Tripod Head both items are very well made and have not had any issues with either of them. I really like the easy removable head which I have set with 2 of the 75mm Half Ball Leveling Heads. By doing this I can switch from the gimbal head to a video head in a matter of seconds instead of minutes. Overall I am more than happy with the purchase. The only problem that I can comment on is the weight at around 12 lbs. for the total rig it is nothing that I will take on a long hike. I wish Pro Media Gear would make the same removable setup on the 34mm series then I could interchange heads from tripod to tripod no problem with screws like on the 34mm. I am very happy with the products and the support Tony has been I big help.

Mr.
I first bought the TR42M 61 INCH Monopod from ProMediaGear and loved it so much that I knew I wanted a PMG tripod to go with it. I’ve had 3 previous monopods, one aluminum and two carbon fiber. The aluminum we won’t waste time on and for carbon fiber, one wasn’t smooth to extend or retract and the leg locks didn’t function well. The other carbon fiber was okay but not great, I wanted one with a larger diameter leg. The PMG 42mm monopod was so stable and so smooth that I haven’t used anything else since. But enough about the monopod, it’s the tripod that you want to read about since you are here. The tripod is rock solid, the apex is machined to perfection, the esthetics of this thing are beautiful and the function matches it. I love the push/pull leg angle locks. It is so easy to push instead of pull them out like I do on my Gitzo Systematic CF tripod. The curved rest for your fingers just feels natural, not to mention comfortable. The 42mm legs will hold anything I need and more. This thing is as stable as you will find. I like the rounded rubber feet which are more like the RRS feet than the Gitzo and are much more to my liking. The leg section locks work like a charm, a quarter twist and the sections extend or retract, give it a quarter turn and its locked solid again - super smooth and easy. The modular apex makes it easy to switch from a flat platform mount to a 75mm bowl for quick leveling. This tripod is quality throughout and works as great as it looks. Buy the best first and have no regrets.
