Description:

Quickly transform your PMG-DUO Slider with 3-Wheel (VC2) Carriage into a motorized beast with the #VSMDC1 DC Motor and Controller. The motor installs with (1) 1/4-20 bolt directly to the carriage body and features (2) anti-rotation guide pins. The motor is a friction wheel motor in which the wheel runs on the outside of the track without bands or cables. We mounted the motor directly to the carriage rather than the end of the slider track to allow you to easily remove the entire carriage and "flip" your track when desired from Curved to Straight. The motor / controller combination has (3) main feature function. (1) Time Lapse (2) Loop (3) Video. Each function is explained in detail below.

The controller connects to the motor with a mini XLR connection that comes apart in seconds for transportation and runs on (3) AA Batteries (not included).

(1) Time Lapse Function

The controller offers a timelapse function that allows you to set the interval time delay from 1 second to 300 seconds and then the distance to travel from .02mm to 999cm.

The controller is equipped with a sync cable port that will trigger your camera. (optional accessory)

** Note. You must make sure that the shutter release time is < the time you have selected for the time delay or you will get blur.

To set the function up it's very intuitive. Using the left MODE knob dial around counter clockwise until the screen starts to show the Int, / Jmp, settings. If you continue to dial counter clockwise you set the interval time.

Then using the right knob set your distance to travel. You may select the unit to go left or right after the interval time.

Many of today's cameras don't require a trigger sync cable. However, if necessary insert the 2.5mm cable into the controller. After the slider makes its interval move the camera will be triggered.

(2) Loop Mode

Place the left knob into the up / middle position on the controller. The screen will say LOOP. Using the right knob select your speed and direction.

When the slider "bumps" or hits anything it will automatically reverse and go the other direction infinitely until the battery dies.

** Note. Optional AC power supply available. Estimated Run Time on AA = 3-5 hours (moderate load / level surface)

(3) Speed Control

Moving the MODE knob until clockwise all the way to the bottom right. The screen will say VIDEO

Control the speed of the motor and direction using the right knob. The speed goes from 0 - 100 (max speed 2.3in/sec - 58mm/sec).

** Note. When the unit is in this mode and hits the end of the slider or a stop point you need to manually stop the motor.

Great concept and motor. They just need to add parallax feature to this unit in the newer version.

Awesome motor for the DUO slider!
I purchased the motor control along with a DUO 36" slider and love the shots I am getting! I do video production and often it's just me shooting alone or with a very small crew. The DUO with the Motor Control has enabled me to get awesome tracking shots on a three-camera shoot with only two camera operators. It adds an awesome look, is easy to set u and is very quiet when moving slowly...so quiet that it can't be heard when talent wearing an omni-directional lav is standing within arms length. I love the versatility and great production value it adds to my projects. This is the best slider/motor combo available for the money.

Wow what can I say about PMG. I have purchased several PMG products and I can say that it is the best build quality on the market today. I have a closet full of sliders of lesser quality that delivered poor results. The camera flows on the PMG slider like butter in a hot frying pan. The motor and controller are incredible and move effortlessly on the rail with camera and heavy video head attached. I put my gear through a lot of use,in less than favorable conditions and Pro Media Gear is the only gear that I will trust to get those shots that I need. I rarely take time to write a review on any gear, however PMG gear is the best that I have used and if this helps others make a choice and not end up with their own closet full of substandard sliders or motors then my work is done. You truly will get the best results with Pro Media Gear. They have won me over as a loyal customer and I look forward to trying more of their products in the future.

The Motor Control for our PMG-DUO Slider has been a dream. We were surprised how quickly we learned how to use it. Motion shots are smooth now -- none of the unsteady manual camera moves anymore. Works great!

Smooth as silk!
I plan to buy the Motor for my 32 DUO slider. I already had the chance to play with this motor cause it is produced by some other company i guess, cause i saw a similar motor with some other slider system produced in Poland or something, but it was very good as well. It has a loop mode so you can leave the system as the "a" camera and use the "b" camera instead. It could be set to a very slow speeds as well which are the most hard to do by hand. And it looked smooth as well so lets wait for 15th of December 2014 to get our hands on this one as well. I can also make time-lapse movements so you can program it to make small steps and make photos in while it is not moving. Cant wait to get this item too.

The PMG slider and controller is worth every penny. I've used many different sliders, motorized and manual, and out of the box this one is by far the easiest, fastest and best so far. Within 10 minutes of receiving the package I had it up and running. The next day, with a client looking over my shoulder, was the first test. Same deal--quick, efficient, game-changing. The curve of the 32" is perfect for keeping the subject in the frame, the motor is silent, the unit works the B cam by itself while I'm concentrating on the A cam. Buy this thing for yourself.

We used the motor on a three day shoot for a training film. The Motor is amazingly smooth and at loop speed below 10 it reverses nicely. We ran it continuously for 14 hours one day with only one battery change. love the subtle motion with our 48" curved Pro Media Gear slider.

Overall I really like it, its smooth, it can disengage for manual slides, and it has multiple modes for different types of shots. Couple of minor complaints, the batteries are difficult to remove - I use a flat head screwdriver because I can't get my fingers in the very tight battery compartment - and you have to use a screw to close the battery cover which is likely to be dropped and lost. Also my cable is stuck on the control unit and I'm afraid to put any more pressure on it to remove it so I have to leave it attached. These are slight oversights that could have been designed better. Still its a great unit and it gets the job done.
